Dougald MacDonald is an outdoor journalist whose stories and photographs have been published in Climbing, Outside, National Geographic Adventure, Hemispheres, Backpacker and many others (see recent clips). He was editor and publisher of Rock & Ice magazine from 1997 to 2002, and he co-founded Trail Runner magazine. He also worked as a business reporter for many years, and served as editor of the weekly Denver Business Journal from 1989 to 1994. In addition to freelance writing and editing, he currently works as online news editor for climbing.com, copy editor/contributing writer for 5280 magazine and associate editor of The American Alpine Journal. He also publishes The Mountain World blog.
A skier since age 3, backpacker since 15 and climber since 16, he remains a committed and widely traveled outdoor athlete, with broad experience in climbing and mountaineering, hiking, backcountry skiing, paddling, sailing and mountain biking.
